Sweet, salty, creamy, crunchy, and secretly packed with protein, this is the snack I can’t stop making! This protein apple snickers salad is a healthy, high-protein twist on the classic. It has crisp chopped apples, creamy vanilla protein Greek yogurt, chewy caramel-y dates, crunchy peanuts, and chocolate chips, all topped with a drizzle of homemade 3-ingredient peanut butter caramel. It tastes just like a Snickers bar met a caramel apple, and every bowl packs over 30 grams of protein.
Best of all, it comes together in about 5 minutes with no cooking at all. Just chop, shake, drizzle, and dig in. There are no protein bars, no store-bought caramel sauce, and no Cool Whip, just simple, wholesome ingredients you probably already have. It’s naturally gluten-free and much lower in added sugar than a classic Snickers salad. It’s also my go-to afternoon snack, post-workout refuel, and healthy dessert all fall long.

Why You’ll Love This Protein Apple Snickers Salad
- It tastes like a Snickers bar and a caramel apple in one bowl. Crisp apples, chewy dates that taste just like caramel, salty peanuts, chocolate chips, and a drizzle of gooey peanut butter caramel. It hits every sweet, salty, creamy, and crunchy craving at once!
- Over 30 grams of protein, ready in 5 minutes. Greek yogurt and vanilla protein powder turn this into a seriously satisfying high-protein snack that actually keeps you full. Just toss everything into a container, shake, and drizzle. No cooking and no protein bars required.
- A healthy snack or dessert that’s perfect for fall. It’s naturally gluten-free, sweetened mostly by apples and dates, and has a fraction of the added sugar of a traditional Snickers salad. Enjoy it as an afternoon snack, a post-workout treat, or a cozy healthy dessert when apple season is in full swing.
How Much Protein Does This Recipe Contain?
This protein apple snickers salad has about 33 grams of protein in one bowl! Here’s where it all comes from:
- ½ cup Greek yogurt: ~11 grams
- 1 scoop Aloha vanilla protein powder: ~9 grams
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter: ~7 grams
- Peanuts: ~3–4 grams
- Apple, dates, chocolate chips, and milk: ~2–3 grams combined
Compare that to a traditional Snickers salad made with Cool Whip, pudding mix, and candy bars, which has just a few grams of protein per serving. This version delivers more protein than three eggs, in a bowl that tastes like dessert!
Want even more protein? Use two scoops of protein powder (adds ~9g), swap the milk for a high-protein milk like Fairlife (adds ~2g), or use a higher-protein yogurt like skyr.

Recipe Variations and Substitutions
- Dairy-free: Swap the Greek yogurt for a high-protein dairy-free yogurt, like Kite Hill Protein or Siggi’s plant-based. Use a dairy-free milk (soy milk has the most protein) and dairy-free chocolate chips. Aloha protein powder (this link gets you 20% off Aloha!) is already plant-based, so you’re all set there!
- Lower sugar: Use 1 date instead of 2, swap in sugar-free chocolate chips like Lily’s, and use a sugar-free maple syrup in the peanut butter caramel. You’ll still get all the Snickers flavor with even less sugar.
- Peanut-free: Use almond butter or cashew butter in the caramel and chopped almonds or cashews instead of peanuts. For nut-free, use sunflower seed butter and roasted sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.

Protein Apple Snickers Salad (30g+ protein!)
Equipment
- 1 jar or bowl
Ingredients
For the salad:
- 1 apple chopped
- ½ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 2 medjool dates pitted and chopped
- small handful peanuts chopped
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
For the peanut butter caramel:
- 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
Method
- Add the chopped apple, Greek yogurt, protein powder, dates, peanuts, and chocolate chips to a bowl or container with a lid. Secure the lid and shake until everything is combined, or use a spoon to mix everything together.
- Make the peanut butter caramel by adding the peanut butter, maple syrup, and milk to a bowl and mixing until smooth. Drizzle the peanut butter caramel over the apple snickers salad and enjoy!
Notes
- Only ~20g of added sugar: Most of the sugar in this recipe comes naturally from the apple and dates. Only about 20 grams is added, from the maple syrup and chocolate chips. That’s a fraction of a traditional Snickers salad!
- Apples: Honeycrisp or Pink Lady give the sweetest crunch. Granny Smith adds a tart, sour-apple twist (my fave!).
- Drippy peanut butter: A natural, drippy peanut butter makes the smoothest caramel drizzle. If yours is thick, warm it for 10 seconds first.
- Meal prep: Store the yogurt base and the peanut butter caramel separately in the fridge, and chop and add the apple right before eating so it stays crisp.
- Gluten-free: Double-check that your protein powder and chocolate chips are certified gluten-free if needed.
- Share it: This makes one hearty bowl. Split it into two snack-size servings (~16g protein each) if you prefer a lighter snack.
